This month’s roundup of how AI continues to evolve, in business and around the world.
It’s been a big month here at Predyktable HQ as we prepare for the full launch of our self-service platform. We don’t usually shout about ourselves, but we’ve been getting some great feedback—like this:
“This is the kind of system I wish I had years ago – it surfaces real-time insights and enables more equitable, SLA-aligned workforce decisions.” – Sarah Booth, Logistics Director
We’re excited to share more soon. In the meantime, here’s this month’s roundup of how AI continues to evolve, in business and around the world.
AI in business
- From automating warehouses to forecasting demand, AI is now central to supply chain operations. But it’s not replacing humans; this article in Forbes emphasises that it’s helping them make better decisions by combining real-time insight with their operational experience: How AI Is Reshaping The Entire Supply Chain (7 mins)
- Duolingo has announced the launch of 148 new language courses in under a year using generative AI, doubling its language offerings. It’s a great example of how AI can scale content fast and food-for-thought for those businesses exploring, or already focused on, global expansion: Duolingo Launches 148 New Language Courses (5 mins)
- Gumroad‘s CEO posted that ‘Devin’, an autonomous AI agent, handled 41% of its latest software releases. Devin can develop, test, and deploy code independently, freeing up engineers to focus on more complex or creative tasks. If this is your jam, you can get more detail, courtesy of this 45-min video from How I AI with Claire Vo.
- If you’re researching how best to prepare for an AI-mediated future, you might be interested to read this Q&A with Antonia Kerle, Chief Technical Advisor in BBC R&D (16 mins)
- We continue to be shocked how few businesses are systematically incorporating external data sources into their strategy and planning workflows. Our own Sinan Djevdet has written this useful overview of why businesses should explore what’s available beyond their own data, including more information about six external data signals that matter: The Power of External Data: Why Good Planning Goes Beyond Your Internal Data (7 mins)
AI everywhere
- According to Filtered’s new report, people are using GenAI for far more than just work; it’s becoming a personal assistant, life coach, and creative partner. You can see a write-up in Harvard Business Review here (16 mins) but here’s a graphic from the article for those of you that like a good visual:

- Reports suggest OpenAI is working on a social network to rival X (formerly Twitter), powered by AI-generated content and real-time data. This is, apparently, still in the early stages, but we know how fast things can accelerate in the world of AI and this is definitely one to watch: https://www.theverge.com/openai/648130/openai-social-network-x-competitor (3 mins)
- After feedback that GPT-4o had become too agreeable, OpenAI rolled back changes. It’s a small but telling example of the balancing act between making AI helpful and making it honest: Sycophancy in GPT-4o: What Happened and What We’re Doing About It (5 mins)
- Services like inTouch use AI to check in with elderly relatives and report back to families. It’s a well-meaning use of AI for care and companionship but raises bigger questions about relationships as well. We found out about it here (1 min)
- And finally… the BBC isn’t only using AI for planning, but also for creativity; it’s designed a new course “taught” by Agatha Christie, voiced via AI and an actor. We wonder what Christie would have made of the ‘whodunnit’ in the age of deepfakes?
