November Newsletter- Shifts in Tech, Shifts in Thinking, Shifts in Outcomes

Warehouse teams are under more pressure than ever, not just to meet demand, but to look after the wellbeing of the people who keep things running smoothly. Implementing AI workforce planning for warehouse teams can help balance these challenges effectively.

This is increasingly important as the labour market remains tight, with high demand and not enough supply to go around.

We’re hearing from more and more businesses that are leaning into these challenges and are supporting hundreds of shift patterns, offering on-site gyms, hairdressers and more, all to attract and retain great people.

But with that level of care comes more complexity and traditional tools just aren’t built for it. That’s where smart tech can help. That’s where Predyktable comes in.

We’ll be diving into this (and more) in our online webinar tomorrow – Wednesday 5th November at 11am.

I’d love for you to join us.

AI in Logistics

McKinsey estimates that AI and advanced analytics could add between $1.3 trillion and $2 trillion a year in value to the supply chain and manufacturing industries. So it’s no wonder venture capital is flowing into the space. (12 mins)

What if we didn’t just fix supply chains but reimagined them? The pandemic exposed just how fragile global logistics really are. Now, AI and automation are helping turn that crisis into a reset; not just improving supply chains, but rethinking how goods move, how economies grow, and how jobs evolve. (Video: 12 mins)

Supply chains aren’t just logistical; now, more than ever before, they’re geopolitical, digital, and deeply uncertain. And AI isn’t just a stabiliser, it can be a strategic differentiator. (6 mins)

AI in Business

According to Wharton’s latest update from a three-year study, 75% of large US firms are already seeing returns on their AI investments, with scale now the next big test. The full report is a weighty 90 pages, but the executive summary is a much more digestible 14, and this overview page gives you the highlights in just 5 minutes. It’s worth a skim if you’re interested in how AI is moving from pilot to business-as-usual.

In a first-of-its-kind programme, India’s Ministry of Agriculture used AI to send tailored monsoon forecasts to farmers, up to 30 days in advance. The forecasts were not only accurate, but were designed around farmers’ specific needs, helping them plan ahead and adapt to shifting climate patterns: “When accurate forecasts like these are available, farmers respond by changing their decisions.” (20 mins)

OpenAI has officially completed its move to a for-profit entity, a shift that could pave the way for billions in fresh investment and possibly a stock market debut. As part of the changes, Microsoft now holds a 27% stake and retains extended rights to OpenAI’s models through 2032. (4 mins)

AI Everywhere

South West Water is using AI to help prevent sewer overflows and the company has said it’s already making a difference. A two-year trial analysing data from 12,000 sensors has helped stop around 200 pollution incidents by predicting blockages before they occur. (5 mins)
