Senior/Lead Fronted Engineer

The Role

We are seeking a Senior/Lead Frontend Engineer to join our platform team and drive technical excellence in our frontend development. You’ll be responsible for developing sophisticated new features for our existing decision intelligence platform while building tooling and processes that scale our engineering productivity.

Your technical expertise will be crucial in making complex labor decision-making data accessible through advanced, performant interfaces. You’ll establish & improve technical standards, create development tooling, and architect solutions that enable our team to move faster and deliver higher quality features.

What You’ll Be Working On

  • Developing new features for our decision intelligence platform that continue to win the love of our users
  • Translating complex analytics into intuitive, user-friendly interfaces
  • Enhancing data visualisation and dashboard functionality to make sophisticated insights accessible
  • Improving user experience across our platform to reduce complexity and increase adoption
  • Collaborating closely with our data science and backend teams to surface insights effectively
  • Contributing across the stack as needed – we’re a small team where everyone pitches in

Technology Stack

Our platform currently uses:

  • React and TypeScript for frontend development
  • Python/FastAPI for backend services
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure
  • Terraform for infrastructure management
  • Firestore and BigQuery for data storage

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture

  • Architect scalable frontend solutions and establish technical standards across the platform
  • Build and implement developer tooling that increases team productivity and code quality
  • Steer technical decision-making for frontend technologies and development processes

Advanced Feature Development

  • Develop complex, high-performance features for our decision intelligence platform
  • Architect & improve reusable component systems and design patterns that scale across the platform
  • Implement advanced data visualisation and interactive dashboard functionality
  • Optimize performance at scale for data-heavy applications

Productivity & Tooling

  • Create development tools and automation that accelerate feature delivery
  • Establish robust testing frameworks and quality assurance processes
  • Design and implement CI/CD improvements for faster, more reliable deployments
  • Build internal tooling that reduces manual work and scales engineering productivity

Cross-Stack Technical Contribution

  • Contribute to backend architecture decisions and implementation (Python/FastAPI)
  • Architect and maintain infrastructure using Terraform and GCP
  • Lead technical discussions and mentor other engineers on best practices
  • Drive technical excellence across the full stack

Required Experience & Skills

Senior Technical Expertise

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience with 3+ years in senior/lead roles
  • Expert-level proficiency in React, TypeScript, and advanced JavaScript patterns
  • Proven experience architecting large-scale frontend applications and component systems
  • Deep understanding of performance optimization, bundle analysis, and scalability patterns
  • Strong experience building developer tooling and improving engineering productivity

Advanced Frontend Skills

  • Expert knowledge of modern build tools, webpack configuration, and development workflows
  • Deep understanding of state management patterns, caching strategies, and performance optimization
  • Experience with testing frameworks and implementing comprehensive test automation
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing design systems and component libraries
  • Some Data visualisation experience with libraries like D3.js, Three.js, or similar would be useful

Technical Leadership & Tooling

  • Demonstrated experience leading technical initiatives and establishing engineering standards
  • Proven track record of building tools and processes that scale team productivity
  • Strong infrastructure knowledge – experience with Terraform, CI/CD, and cloud platforms (GCP preferred)
  • Full-stack capabilities with Python, FastAPI, and modern backend technologies – Nice to have
  • Experience with enterprise-scale applications serving complex data and analytics
  • Use of AI developer tools such as Cursor, or Devin

Startup & Collaboration

  • Experience scaling engineering teams and processes in high-growth environments
  • Strong mentoring abilities and track record of elevating other engineers
  • Excellent technical communication – able to explain complex concepts to varied audiences
  • Experience working in remote/distributed teams with strong async collaboration skills

Project Context

You’ll be joining our platform team as a senior technical leader, working closely with our data scientists, backend engineers, QAs and product team. Our platform is already in production serving enterprise clients, and you’ll be focused on architecting sophisticated new capabilities while building the technical foundation that scales our engineering productivity.

Your technical expertise will be crucial as we scale both our platform’s complexity and our engineering team’s output. You’ll have the opportunity to establish technical standards and build tooling that will serve as the foundation for our continued growth.

Senior Data Scientist – Optimisation Engineering 

Location: London (Hybrid): 1–2 days per week in Central London office

By integrating real-time external signals with client data, we deliver foresight and actionable recommendations at scale – enabling smarter, faster decisions in dynamic environments. 

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Data Scientist with deep expertise in mathematical optimisation and strong engineering skills to design, build, and deploy production-grade solutions. You’ll own projects end-to-end – from framing complex business problem, to embedding algorithms into live systems, to mentoring junior team members. This is a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact in a fast-moving UK startup environment. 

What You’ll Do 

  • Develop and deploy optimisation models (LP, MIP, Genetic, Heuristics, Metaheuristics, RL). 
  • Build scalable, production-ready pipelines with robust engineering practices (CI/CD, testing, containerisation). 
  • Collaborate with engineers and product teams to integrate optimisation into client-facing platforms. 
  • Use ML/DL/RL selectively (e.g. forecasting, clustering) to support optimisation. 
  • Mentor junior scientists and ensure best practices in modelling and coding. 
  • Translate outputs into clear business insights for stakeholders. 

What We’re Looking For

  • MSc/PhD in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field. 
  • Proven experience with optimisation methods (LP, MIP, Genetic, Heuristics, Metaheuristics, RL) in production environments and tools such as Pyomo, Gurobi, PuLP and custom solver integrations. 
  • Strong Python engineering skills; experience with cloud (GCP preferred) and containerisation. 
  • Familiarity with ML frameworks (scikit-learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow) as a complement to optimisation. 
  • Experience in logistics, retail, or hospitality a plus. 
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills.
